Meet Randy Cain. He started in a Grocery Store Retail Business in 1975, covers Lyn Rabai, moved in to this company spent about the time and left about 11 years and worked for security bacon company and after that I worked in the back door of this company in 1993, I have a total of about 30 years in advance foods, haymakers, and tele-markets, save a lots and different kinds of work ethics of a company.

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?
A: I’ve been in the grocery business for a long time, and an opportunity came up to open Haymakers and we’ve already opened 2 of them so I knew what the format is what’s going to be and this really energized me and this is something I want to do, this is something that I put my profile and more so in this business and Grow Store Business.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Champagne-Urbana, and what do you love there?
A: Probably looking at a little south in this area, we always enjoy this lunch price weekend or large plates and getting the pizza down there or the fish sandwich on Fridays or just a regular pork tail wings, just quick, easy and friendly, family range, reasonable price and that is our go to prices.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in Champagne-Urbana?
A: We’ve been here since 1975, my family is originally from Champagne County and then my Dad got transferred a lot between Indiana and Illinois. He got closed to retirement time period and he wanted to go back to Rutherford and he was born and raised around Gifford area so he brought us back to this town.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Champagne-Urbana?
A: Bob Nelson, He was a math teacher, wrestling coach, golf coach at Champagne Santino back when I went to school there. I always enjoyed going to his class and he always has something out of it. He trains Math Clubs probably 85 or so now. George Chaplin and the Herington’s brought about this peoples town and how it grew up over the years would be interesting too.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?
A: Ireland, back to Ireland I can follow the family tree background and just seeing the heritage, genealogy and the places around Ireland.
Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?
A: Godfather, I really remembered when it came up in 1972 the first that I wanted.
Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: It doesn’t matter what kind of business you are or what you are selling, it’s a people’s business regardless whatever you are selling houses, whether fuel or soup or whatever it may be, it’s a people’s business and constraint on the person and what they are leading, what they are telling you and learn from them doing that as far as to fulfill what they wanted and what they really need and listen to that person that you are dealing no matter what it is in life.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: I’m thinking about the retirement and the future where it leads us to, with the grand kids as they grow older I’ve got 1 all the way to 14 years old so I really be involve more so them, spend all the time working, I love working and that’s what I do, just getting with them and their kids that’s the greatest thing that I want to do upon retirement.
Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Champagne-Urbana?
A: Grandy’s , everyone seem to love the Grandy’s and everybody should say come back to town and that’s kind of subject back to the Par Three Golf Course back with Bob Nelson and just going out there and heat coming out there, it’s kind of frustrating kind of a hobby to learn good golf and I could not ever worked, just those couple type of businesses in town.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Champagne-Urbana?
A: Part of it is the people and the diversity of people, all education levels it’s just makes us what we are. You name and you can find in Champagne Urbana between what you may want. It’s just a diverse place but the University hall thing, whether you go to canary or go to whatever may be, it’s all here.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: Maybe retired, but I don’t know. I like working, I love dealing with people.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
A: I spent 13 years pairing soup in Champagne-Urbana a lot of people don’t realize I did that years ago and ruining in Sossy Walks with the same people and go down the field like we used to do back then, back in soft holes hay day in town but I spent a lot time out the and again interacting with people and all the time they are happy with me.
