Dr Corrine Kohler, MD, is a primary care physician in Champaign. She practices at Frances Nelson, a primary care medical and mental health clinic dedicated to providing affordable and accessible high quality health care services to the medically underserved population of Champaign County, now with a walk-in clinic and convenient care access. “I have been a family practice physician here in Champaign for 20 years. I moved to Champaign when I was in Junior High. I feel very wedded to the community. I am member of Windsor Road Christian Church for more than 25 years.”

| What inspired you to your current career? | Since I was a little girl, my mom said that she knew that I was going to be a doctor. My first word was doctor. After being granted the privilege of going to medical school, I had the opportunity choose a family medicine residency here in Champaign which was such a blessing. After graduation, I had my first practice in Farmer City being a real health provider. Then the opportunity at Francis Nelson, independent federally qualified health center. This was my fit. |
| Tell me a little more about overseas mission trips. | Working with underserved patients spills over to overseas mission work. My first missions trip was when I went as a youth chaperone. Missions has been another opportunity to teach and bless others in the way that I have been blessed. I have left that environment better than I found it. |
| How long have you lived in Champaign-Urbana? | Since 1967. |
| What is your favorite restaurant here in Champaign-Urbana? | Core life Eatery. I love the freshness of the products. You are able to pick and choose what you are going to eat and it is basic. If I wanted a more fancy dinner, I would choose silver creek for Sunday brunch. |
| If you could travel anywhere in the world? | Normally it would be Stockholm, Sweden to see my grand kids, but they are coming here in a couple of days! But traveling just for me, I would say visiting the holy land. I think geographically, I would like to see where Christ walked and to connect with the sites of the New Testament. |
| What’s on your bucket list? | More travel and overseas mission trips! |
| If you were speaking to group of people, what would you share? | Two of the most important things in life is being able to listen to the people that are around you and to be flexible with your life. |
| What current or former local business makes you nostalgic about Champaign-UrbAna? | Interestingly, when you refer to 5 points in Urbana, everyone instantly knows exactly where that is. There used to be store called Hueys. They absolutely had everything that you would ever need. There was also a restaurant in downtown Champaign, Chans, that we would go every Sunday too. |
| What is the best thing about Champaign Urbana? | We are such a unique blended community. From the University to farmland and industry, it’s such a conglomerate of socioeconomic backgrounds. The other thing that is great about Champaign-Urbana is that we are located in the center of a triangle between Indianapolis, St Louis and Chicago. Big city life is only 2 hours away. The last best thing is our public Library system. |
| What is the most interesting thing about Dr. Corinne Kohler? | When I was 4 years old, I was the Easter Seals poster child at my home in Indiana. |
